Testing Services

M & R Electrical Services provide a complete testing service under their accreditation with the ECA.   Periodic Inspection & Testing is the inspection and test of an existing electrical installation designed to identify and prioritise any deficiencies against the national safety standard for electrical installations.
The frequency of such testing is determined by the type / use of the particular installation.

A periodic inspection will:

  • Reveal any electrical circuit or equipment that is overloaded
  • Find any potential electrical shock risk and fire hazards in the installation
  • Identify any defective electrical work
  • Highlight any lack of earthing or bonding

Landlords in particular should ensure that regular periodic inspections are undertaken to ensure the safety of their clients is not compromised.

All periodic testing comes with a full test report of all non-conformances categorised by degree of severity, together with an outline of costs to make compliant.

M & R Electrical Services carry out periodic testing to a wide range of clients.   All testing is carried out by qualified personnel who have been CRB checked.

 

PORTABLE APPLIANCE TESTING (PAT)

Portable appliance testing plays an important part of any health and safety policy.   The Health & Safety Executive advise that 25% of all reportable electrical accidents involve portable appliances.

The Electricity at Work Regulations places a legal responsibility on employers, employees and self-employed persons to comply with the regulations.   This, in effect, requires the implementation of a systematic and regular programme of maintenance, inspection and testing.

The Health & Safety at Work Act (1974) places an obligation in the following circumstances:

  • Where appliances are used by employees
  • Where the public may use appliances in establishments such as hospitals, schools, hotels, shops, etc.
  • Where appliances are supplied or hired
  • Where appliances are repaired or serviced

M & R Electrical Services carry out PAT testing for a range of clients on a regular basis.   Each test is formally documented for the client and a label attached to the piece of equipment registering the test date, approval signature and approval number.

All testing is carried out by qualified personnel who have been CRB checked
